Have you and your family ever visited the Harbour Town Lighthouse before? If you haven’t, you are definitely in for a treat on your visit! You will find this beautifully red & white Lighthouse on Lighthouse Road in Hilton Head Island. For the last five decades, the Harbour Town Lighthouse has become an iconic lighthouse for many ship’ captains in the Harbour.  Visiting the Lighthouse will allow you and your family to enjoy the museum located inside the Lighthouse. As you climb, you will go through the history of Hilton Head Island. They are open every day from 10:00 am to sunset, and don’t forget to visit the gift shop to bring home a little Hilton Head Island history with you!

Coastal Discovery Museum

Another place you and your family can also do this spring here on Hilton Head Island to check out the Coastal Discovery Museum. Located on Honey Horn Drive, this fantastic museum will make you not want to leave. You can experience many exhibits: Lowcountry through the Seasons, Santa Elena, Discovery Lab, Grounds & Gardens, and the Kids Zone. You may find a few things in the Kids Zone meeting “Myrtle,” a Diamondback Terrapin, along with a bird’s nest cam, and even go on a bit of scavenger hunt fun for the whole family! The Coastal Discovery Museum is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. While admission to the museum is free, they offer tours and educational programs available at additional costs. Think of the fun you will have to explore this museum while on your next trip to Hilton Head Island.

Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge

If you have someone in the family who loves the adventure of seeing wildlife, then head on over to the nearby Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge. Located less than 10 minutes from downtown Hilton Head Island, you’ll find the wildlife refuge. You may see some of the wildlife while there are egrets, herons, bald eagles, alligators, and even an armadillo! We recommend bringing plenty of sunscreen and bug spray for your Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge trip. Be sure to bring your camera fully charged with you, as there will be plenty of photo opportunities while visiting the refuge to remember your trip.

Play Pickleball

If you’re looking for a fun, new, and exciting way to stay active during your stay, let us introduce you to pickleball. This fast-growing sport is a unique mix of tennis and ping-pong but on a smaller court with a lightweight paddle and a ball like a wiffleball. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, Hilton Head Island offers plenty of spots to play. The island has many courts, including local parks and the Sea Pines Racquet Club. So, while you’re soaking up the island’s beautiful scenery, how about adding a friendly game with your family on your vacation?
